As we said in our most recent patient success story on Liz Saba, our patients are what truly matter here at Catalyst Nutrition and Training.
We understand the value of sharing our patients’ stories with our community–by learning about others’ struggles and achievements with maintaining healthy lifestyles, we hope you become inspired to take that next step for yourself!
Today, we’re happy to bring you the story of our patient Allie Litchkowski. Allie came to us looking to lose weight after trying just about every other approach out there. More than 55 pounds later, she is what we’d call an ongoing success.
Whether you’re looking to lose weight yourself or are interested in our services for any other reason, we hope you enjoy learning about Allie’s health journey!

The Issue
Allie has actually known Catalyst owner Brooke Evans, RDN since high school, and their paths crossed again in June 2023. That’s when Allie reached out to Catalyst with a specific goal: “To get healthy and lose weight before my wedding,” Allie said. “I was at an unbelievably low point of being the heaviest I’d ever been in my life and feeling at a total loss of what to do.”
We’ve encountered patients at “total losses” before, those who start seeing us as somewhat of a last resort.
In this case, Allie found Catalyst Nutrition and Training after trying to lose weight by seeing a nutritionist and a health coach, going on fad diets, taking supplements, and strictly counting calories.
None of it proved sustainable for her. By the time Allie contacted us, she figured she had nothing left to lose.
So Livable
If you’ve been following Catalyst content on our website and social media for a while, then you know our philosophy toward helping patients breaks down like this:
Educate patients rather than telling them what to do
Help patients find foods that fit for them
Show patients what sustainably healthy lifestyles can look like
Those principles guide every interaction we have with our patients.
With Allie, the primary difference between working with us and everything else she tried is that we promote holistic dietary sustainability rather than quick fixes. It’s difficult to impossible to maintain any kind of “extreme” mindset for long.
Instead, we help our patients understand that getting healthy isn’t really about “dieting.” It’s about reinventing your lifestyle for the long term.
“It’s been so much more than getting on the scale and focusing and fixating on trying to just lose as much weight as possible,” Allie said. “It’s all about what’s healthiest and best for my body, what foods make my body the healthiest and most optimal, and what workouts and training work best for me. Catalyst breaks it down so anyone can understand and comprehend.”
Breaking it down for our patients is what we’re about.
At Catalyst, we show you that all your favorite foods can still fit into a healthy lifestyle, that you never have to feel bad about yourself for eating certain foods, and that you can get healthy while still enjoying what you eat.
It just takes some education!
“I have learned so much about my health from Catalyst and their top-of-the-line InBody scans,” Allie told us. “Catalyst works because it has been so ‘live-able.’ I never feel guilty for going out to eat or enjoying holidays or special events. I am able to make choices and accommodations that work every day, no matter the situation. It has completely fixed my relationship with food. I’m finally EATING and not extremely restricting myself.”
That’s what finding foods that fit is all about: instead of telling patients what to eat, we educate them in making their own healthy decisions as they go, no matter where they find themselves.
We’ll also note that no two patients are ever the same. Just like with Liz Saba, what fits for Allie is for her individually.
“Everything is tailored specifically to me,” Allie said. “It’s not ‘one plan works for everyone,’ and Catalyst is always available for questions or whenever needed.”
Allie Today
These days, Allie is down more than 55 pounds, and counting! She isn’t struggling with unsustainable fad diets or tedious and restrictive calorie counting. She knows what foods will help her meet her ongoing health goals, and she’s out there making her own choices based on what she’s learned.
“Brooke and the Catalyst team have been extremely supportive and helpful,” Allie said. “Everyone who knows me knows I am constantly singing the praises of Brooke and the team at Catalyst.”
We understand that seeing a dietitian can be challenging for many people. Suddenly, you’re under the spotlight, talking about subjects that might make you uncomfortable: your diet, your habits, your lifestyle.
So, we asked Allie what she’d say to someone considering seeing us for the first time.
“Just DO IT! If I can, you can! And, bonus points: they take insurance, so you literally have NOTHING to lose.”
There’s nothing we love more here at Catalyst Nutrition and Training than to see our patients thrive. The fact that Allie has met, and continues to meet, her health goals is as satisfying an outcome as we can imagine.
